  • Manchester who??

I was forced by the son to drive him to Brent Cross shopping centre. I have flying visits there as I can't be doing with the parking and all that faffing about. Under extreem pressure I gave in and took him. While I was waiting in the car I was very amused to see a minibus pull up outside the sports superstore there and everyone get off. The men were all wearing very smart business suits and very shiney shoes. Nothing funny in that you can say. BUT....when they all come out armed with their carrier bags, they emptied what they had got out, held it up against their chests and smiled and waved while they had their photos taken...and lots of photos they were too!

The men all looked Korean or Far Eastern and they had all each got a Manchester United football shirt!! They were so proud of these shirts :)

  • I've done it at long last!!!

I have threatend to go, promised myself I would go and have never got there but Monday evening saw me announce myself and actually sign up.

I am now an official member of Slimming World!

It had to be done. There is far too many of my pounds wobbling around on this 'ere skeleton of mine and the old joints are complaining so I went and signed up. Hubby dropped me off and I told him how much I was sure I was going to weigh. He thought I was exaggerating. I don't have scales at home as I can't stand them. I tell how fat I am by how certain clothes fit (or don't!) me. So, I ended up being 2 and a half stone lighter than I said I was and hubby won the bet. I was totally convinced that I was heavier but I am not going to argue with their scales. So, there you are!!

Today I went shopping to buy up every "virtually no fat" item I could find and also got every bit of fruit I could get my hands on too. I got cereals too!

Anyone who is familiar with Slimming World will know all about the RED or GREEN days and how easy it is to follow. I am a GREEN girl really and will proceed to eat my own body weight in pasta this week just for starters!

Wish me luck...I really need it!

    xx

  • My little trip

I've not been to Ikea for so long that I can't actually remember when I did last go there!! So today I decided I would go. Hubby said he would come along too as we were looking for some unit type things. Sadly they didn't have what we wanted but we did get all those silly things you can always rely on getting at Ikea!

Cutlery (as son keeps throwning in the bin by mistake), glasses, photo frames, a very long shoe horn (I thought it would be very helpful!!) and cushions for my projects...you know, with the sewing machine and me covering them nicely :)

We come out to find a flat tyre. That's ok says hubby, we can drive next door to the Tesco petrol station and put some air in the tyre. WRONG!!! They don't do air...only water. So, remembering that the last time we had to take the tyre off we couldn't find the locking wheels nuts we called the RAC. "We only need some air and we will be off on our way" says I. The nice lady informs me that there is a wait of at least 2 and a half hours! 88| So we settle down ready for a long wait.

30 minutes later Bob the RAC man appears! What a lovely surprise :) No worries he said. He spotted a screw in the tyre, filled it up with air, tightened the srew up (really he did!) and off we drove. So now we are on the hunt for a new tyre!

Never rains but it pours eh!

    Happy Monday everyone!

  • Takeaway!!!

We had a fab takeaway last night...Indian actually, and the best ever if you ask me! Sooooo tonight, we are having it again as it was so lovely :))

    Reason?

I am starting a dreaded (much needed) diet tomorrow and I feel like this could be my last tasty meal for a while

  • Cicadas???

I love the sound of the cicadas when I am on holiday in some hot country. In fact, to me it's all part of the holiday....as night falls then they come out singing their songs.

Last night, around 11pm I ventured out into the garden to find the dog and was amazed to hear cicadas in my very garden!!!! Honest I did, and I was so shocked to hear them. I didn't think we had them in this country for some reason. Do we?? It was most definately that beautiful song that I heard. I even went up to bed and woke hubby up to tell him. I can't say he was too interested though :))

  • The Friday Five Summer Holiday Edition

Summer's here, school's out and the weather is rubbish so here is the FF Summer holiday edition!

    1. Where are you heading for your holiday this summer?
    Nowhere! Windowsill Bay probably :(

    2. Is it going to be a camping, hotel or even a caravan type holiday?
None of the above....unless I camp out in the garden :))

    3. Do you travel light or insist on taking 4 suitcases with the kitchen sink in?
I'm afraid I take the kitchen sink...just incase we need anything and of course, we never do need anything!

    4. Do you prefer a beach holiday topping up the tan or do you do all the sightseeing you can cram in?
I am a sun worshipper and will laze by the pool or on the beach 24/7 :)

    5. Will you go by train, car, plane or boat?
I love the train! The TGV in France is just wonderful and the only way to travel.

You know what to do now...copy and paste etc

  • So where was I??

Yesterday I sat and tried to post a message and somehow managed to do something, not sure what, and lost the lot before I could click SAVE! >:XX So tried again earlier today.....that time I couldn't remember what I was going to tell you all and then had to go out.

Here I am again and do you know what? I still can't remember what terribly exciting stuff I had to tell you...can't have been that exciting can it if I can't remember what it was! U-(

So, Tuesday saw the end of the school year......HURRAH!!!!!!! What a relief :) I crawled out of school and more or less drove home on autopilot. I fell through the door, had a nice long, ice cold diet coke...with ice and let my bones click and creak. Ooooh that felt good. It was short lived as we had a night out planned to celebrate the end of it all. Yes another one! I think I have been to 3 such nights already this last week or so. Off I trot to party my tired body up and get my lippy on and get in the groove. Listen to me!!! I got to the pub, had 2 glasses of wine and nearly fell asleep in the corner. Talk about party pooper. I was soon energised again after a gossip session out in the beer garden and another glass or two of wine. Oh my goodness the gossip was hot too!!! ;)

Last night was yet another night out! This time it was to celebrate a birthday. The birthday girl had no idea this was for her though and just thought it was another of our girlie nights. She is so ditsy too and didn't even notice the birthday balloons and banners up all over the house. We had said that we wouldn't mention her birthday until she noticed the party decorations. It took her 2 hours to get it....by this time we were all nigh on hysterical with laughter. The birthday girl got rip roaring drunk, was sick several times all over the garden and had to be escorted home by an army of giggling girlies :)) It was 2am by time I arrived home and yes, I was a little tiddled too and wanted a nice cuppa tea.

So there you are, that's me and my news...boring? Yep, probably :))

Lots of love to you all xx

  • Busy day

    Busy day today.... yet again!

Got to go out and buy some pressies for school, get a pressie for a friend, buy a new outfit for meeeee and, get to John Lewis and treat myself to a sewing machine!

I am so excited about the sewing machine!!!!

Have a good weekend everyone :)

  • Just wait for the vibration......

    Oooh 'er!!

Last year on a trip to visit our lovely friends ooop in Lancashire we visited a wonderful eating establishment called Guys. Now Guys is like a little village on it's own. Hotel, craft shops the lot. It is on the side of the canal so you can sit and watch the barges go up and down and even feed the ducks. The food really is very good and all made in house so that's even better. Really reasonable prices too. As you would expect, it is very busy there so when we went we had to wait for our table despite booking. No worries we said, it's lovely out by the canal so we will wait there.

    We were presented with this:

    vibratoring alert thingie

As you would imagine, it gave me the giggles. Can't think why!!! So when our table was ready not only did it vibrate but it glowed too. I laughed all evening about it :))

    Guys Thatched Hamlet

  • 7 days and 7 nights......

It's 7 days since I last posted...blimey, I knew I was busy but didn't realise I was that busy! Busy but also fed up with myself moaning on here what seemed non stop so I gave myself a telling off and went to bed early most nights thinking that it was a lack of sleep making me miserable.

    So what's happening?
Well, it's nearly the end of the school year and I for one can't wait. It's been a year from hell really but, next year will be better and if it's not then I shall eat my hat. There has been so much parental upset this last year that I am wondering if the parents actualy run the school or the Head does

I had to go to the Town Hall yesterday. Why did I choose yesterday?! Of course it could only happen to me too. It was the day that everyone at the town hall were going to pretend that the world had ended. Everyone was running about like idiots all dressed up in silly orange jackets with walkie talkies. Give a man a radio and he is automatically promoted to "Head Idiot" and thinks he can control the world. Well Head Idiot, listen up....I didn't "die" yesterday nor did I have my left nostril chopped off by aliens but I did miss my step and fall up the steps. Did you help me? Nah course not.....you too busy playing silly buggers with your silly radio wasn't you XX(

Oh and can anyone find me a plastic duck to put in the garden....for when it rains. How much rain have we had this week?!?!

    How you all doing??

  • I have an urge.....

....for one of these and right now too please!!!

    Ice cream sundae

  • Stand by your blogs......

Been a bit preoccupied this week folks.....so that has meant I have not had time to catch up with your blogs and postings :(

I promise to try and catch up today

    :)

  • Sewing lessons!!

I have found a place to have some lessons with the old sewing machine! They have classes for complete idiots like me and that suits me just fine. I need every bit of help I can muster up :)

The classes start very basically with learning the machine. You know, how to load the bobbin, tensions, sewing in straight lines. Perfect!!!

So, do I sign up for the apron class, the cushion class or the tote bag class?? I rather liked the look of the apron class.....

Then, once you have done this first class you can move on to bigger and better things...putting in zips, alterations etc etc.

    I am so excitied!

  • Nightmare birthday

    It was hubbys birthday yesterday.
I had all sorts planned....was taking him out for breakfast, followed by a lovely walk. Then I had booked a table at a rather Indian restuarant. His favourite actually.

Son had other ideas.....what a day!

We had toast and jam for breakfast, didn't get the lovely walk and had a curry from Sainsburys :(

What a nightmare birthday for hubby. No wonder he's fed up eh!

  • I've got my very own one now!!

I am now the proud owner of a sewing machine :)

I have no idea of what to do with it. The last time I used one was many years ago when I was still at school.

What am I going to make?? I have no idea!!!

I thought that perhaps I could make a simple A line skirt. You know, find some nice material and lay one of my nice skirts down on the material and use that as a template. Would that work??

Failing that, it will be new cushion covers....I've seen how to do them on the telly. So they are bound to fail :))

  • ....and now the 5th thing has occured!!

Not sure when the damage was done but come out this morning and there is a big bash in the rear bumper and my boot is now even smaller as the number plate area has been bashed into the boot!

Now, this may have happened when the bus hit it or it may not....who knows!

I am now getting very upset about this car......

  • Tone deaf? Me? Nah!!

Why is it that people who are tone deaf can't stop singing??

My son is sitting upstairs with a friend and they are both singing their heads off. One sings like an angel, the other should audition for Fred and the Tone Deafs :))

I'm tone deaf and will only sing while in the privacy of my car...alone!

  • Hot, hot, hot.....

    Hot enough for you all?

How many gallons of water have you drunk today then?

I think I have drunk the Thames dry today
