  • RSPCA week

I was listening to the radio this morning and heard that this week is RSPCA week. They want to raise even more awareness about the plight of those poor animals that just get dumped. I know people may have some good reasons for not being able to keep their pets but why dump them or ill treat them? It makes me so sad to see those poor things all boney and horrible. The RSPCA are there to help out if they can. They are so busy though and do struggle to find places.

Staffs are the most dumped dog. Staffs do have a bad press but mostly they are a lovely little breed. Sad to say but they are now seen as the medalion to wear for teenagers. Heavens only knows why! OK there are the Pit Bulls....now they are a different kettle of fish altogether but again, given the correct training they are lovely dogs.

I would have a house full of dogs given my way. They are the sweetest things and just give the most unconditional love and just want to please. How can people be so evil and treat them so bad!!!

  • DC-10's??

Have you seen the size of this years wasps?? They are like DC-10's already and it's only April 88|

I hate the flippin' things as it is and tonight hubby walked a dead one in. There it was, dead, laying there on the rug looking at me. XX(
It was huge compared with previous years....honest it was really.

What will we do this year then? We will need industrial sized cans of wasp killer and a very large wasp swotter.

    Heyulp!!!

  • Little little piggy went to market.....

It's been a funny old day today!
I went back to bed this morning...and slept for another 2 hours. Can you imagine!! It felt good too. Hubby and the son had gone out so I didn't feel that I had to stay up and entertain everyone and actually did something for me. The dog slept on the end of the bed and we snored in harmony.

When I eventually got up I caught my little piggy on the duvet and pulled the toe sidewards. OUCH!!! I felt the pain and just muttered some naughty words under my breath and hoped that I hadn't done too much damage to myself. Tonight I have a fair bit of pain....it could only happen to me eh! :**:

  • I need an explanation please

    I need an explanation!

How comes flies, midge type things and moths all know how to fly into my open windows and drive me nuts? But, they don't know how to stop themselves flying into mirrors??

    Do they have lessons??

  • So tired!

It has been a loooooong tiring week. I have done nothing but fall asleep. I've been getting in from work, making a cuppa and nodding off...one cold cup of tea. One day I woke up and couldn't see...had I gone blind was my first panic. My contacts had kind of folded up under my eyelids and hidden themselves. Thank heavens I remembered I was wearing them. Eventually retrieved them only to find them the shape of a Dairylee yet again

I was made to laugh so much by one little boy in the week...in the middle of assembly he asked if he could go to the toilet. I told him to wait 2 minutes as assembly was nearly over. He stood there holding himself with that look in his eye. "I really need to go" he said "Look! Even my willy has gone hard. You can feel it if you want!" 8| At that point I declined his offer and ushered him out of the hall towards the toilet! :-/

    How's your week been then??

  • The rather late Friday Five

In 1990, NASA launched the Hubble Telescope, to facilitate the viewing of the dark places in our universe. So...

    1. Do you believe in Life On Other Planets?
Of course, look at us, we live on another planet don't we??!

    2. If you met an ET, how would you feel?
Like slapping him round the head....drives me mad

    3. Do you believe that Mankind belongs among the stars?
I have no idea really....never given that any thought :??:

    4. Do you think we will colonise another planet in your lifetime?
Not in my lifetime but yes I think it will happen one day!

    5. Would you be prepared to accept the challenge of being a colonist on another planet, with all the possible hardships involved?
Nooooo! I love my creature comforts far too much :))

Copy and paste in to your own blog and comment here to let everyone know you've done it!

    Thanks Bearcub :D

  • I can't believe it.....

I can't believe how totally bored I am still! I have been terminally bored and fed up all last week. It's not got any better. In fact, all I have done is washing and ironing all week...no wonder I'm fed up!

I'm even fed up with the telly. What a lot of rubbish on there too. I've run out of books to read also...I am a sad and lost cause.

It's back to work on Monday and do you know, I'm looking forward to it in a rather perverse way

    Have a great Sunday everyone!

  • Would you lot stop it!

    Flippin' Norah!! :))

Can you lot slow down with your postings...I can't keep up with you all and your going's on!!

I am trying to work my way round the list of new postings but it's a long job!

I may be gone sometime

  • The Friday Five

    1. Did they really go to the moon or was it all filmed at the BBC studios in Shepherds Bush?
My grandad bless him thought it was all filmed there and no one had in fact gone further than the end of the street! :))

    2. Just how you would feel wearing an astronauts suit and have to wee down a tube?
I guess I'd feel pretty odd and not really like it!

    3. What would you miss most while floating about on the Space Station for a month?
So many things....mobile, DS, doggy, blah, blah....

    4. Would you pay to be one of the first space tourists?
Nope don't think so....I'll wait for the package version! :)

    5. Have you seen a rocket launch for real? How awesome was it??
Only on the telly but would love to actually see a live launch!

  • The morning after the night before

I didn't burn my knees thankfully!!

We arrived at 6.20pm as was planned and were given a lovely glass of wine as we crossed the threashold...ooh thinks me, this is going to be a good night :>>

It ended up with only 9 of us turning up and everyone made some food so you can imagine....the kitchen table was heaving under the strain of my lasagne, quiche, chicken legs, meatballs, chicken satay and the peanut sauce, potato salad with a different approach that I had never thought of...with olives. It was to die for! Best of all, everything was home made...you can't beat it can you. For dessert there was the most wonderful chocolate cake thingy that had a squidgy centre and we had it with ice cream and cream. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. We all stuffed ourselves silly and it was the only time all night that we were quiet....while we ate! :))

We drank so much wine and as we were kind of celebrating a few things and just life in general there were a few bottles of Cava. I do like Cava  Well, it all got a little messy and loud and silly and well, the talk turned to sex and hey girls, you know how it is don't you?! Eventually someone fell asleep, then so did someone else....we looked at the time and it was 1.30am 8| Didn't we have a great time though. So by time we pottered about clearing up and nattering even more and waking the street up as we all told each other how much we loved each other I got home way after 2am  The silly dog thought I was Billy the Burglar and didn't stop barking at me as I stood outside trying to get my keys to work :-/ I fell into bed and just slept.

This morning was a whole new world....a very wobbly one I might add too |-| I 'er was, well, you know....not well and felt decidedly under the weather so went right back to bed to die in peace.

I had to meet a friend at noon for lunch...the last thing I wanted was food too. I did go but felt very wobbly and did manage to eat something but was waiting to get reaquainted with the food at any moment. Thankfully I made it home and collapsed into bed!

Now, I am still a bit wobbly :zz:

  • OMG!

    OMG!!!! Just had a thought.....

I'm going out in less than an hour and the lasagne will only just be cooked and yes, I will get my knees burnt in the car on the way round there!!!

Bring out the wine....oh and I might even come home drunk too!

  • Tempus fugit and all that

Just where does the time go? I have just made a lasagne ready for my girlie night out....I started making it at 1pm so it wouldn't burn my knees in the car on my way round there and I have only just put it in the oven! The phone has not stopped ringing, the door bell keeps going and then I was on the phone to BT for hours!

I washed my hair this morning and I have still not dried it yet and now it has dried itself and has gone all funny...gonna take forever to get it sorted out now  *plugs in straighteners*

As my darling son keeps calling everyone he knows with a mobile phone we put the BT block on to stop that. Happy did warn me that the kids will find a way round it. OK I was prepared for that. I should have known though that seeing as my son is a budding Houdini and can work stuff out he would have it sussed out in no time at all....and he has! Not so much worried that he found how to turn it on and off as that is available for anyone to see. I was more suprised that he discovered the PIN number :## So I call BT to change the PIN number. The long and short of it is that I have to wait for a new PIN number to arrive from BT. This takes 7 working days. Now keep in mind that when I first asked for the service I picked my own PIN. OK, with me so far? So, now BT are very kindly going to turn off my existing PIN number. Then in 2 working days time the new PIN number will work. But....I won't know it as the new PN takes 7 working days to arrive

After a bit of a moan from me I got put through to the Manager who promptly put me through billing....who thankfully understood my plight. Seems it's right, you can't change it yourself and do have to wait.

Complete genious!!! Whowever invented this system needs a rather clump to the head and to be doused in cat pee :))

I give up with the sanity of people these days and they say I'm mad!

  • Alarms!!!

It's late, 1am and I thought that I best head of to bed but....there is always a but eh! Someones house alarm is going off so guess who wouldn't be able to sleep? Yep moi!

So, might as well stay up and blog :))

  • Sometimes you just have to let it go.....

I've been on a bit of a mission today. I totally lost my temper last night with a few people and then today again....whoops!

I feel so much better for getting all my thoughts out and in the open now though....they won't but I do!

  • Bluetooth

Why is it that these people who wear bluetooth headsets look like they have a razor sticking out of their ear??

  • Life....

    ....is a mystery!

    :))

  • Why?

Why is that when I have terminal fed-up-ness I eat?

Why do some people not eat when fed up??

Why can't I be one of those who don't want to eat everything that don't move??

    Pass the pies please.....

  • A girlie time

I am looking forward to one day this week. Not sure what day yet as there are about 12 of trying to plan this. We are all getting together to celebrate a few things and just have a general natter and a gossip.

Isn't that what us girlies do best??

We will order a takeaway, drink lots of wine, put the world to rights and have a general jolly good time and then roll home drunk :)

    Can't wait!

  • Pickle or what?

When you have a sandwich do you just have say cheese or do you have cheese and pickle or something else in there??

I was just starving hungry and went to make myself a lovely cheese and lime pickle sarnie....bliss! I am just addicted to the lime pickle stuff!

  • I am so.....

    I am bored rigid!

Dare not go out for obvious reasons. Skint. Fed up. Bored.

    :-/

  • Fresh meat!

Dog seems to have got the flavour for fresh meat!

After getting the bunny the other week today again he found something that was alive. I don't know what it was as he ran off with it and wasn't too keen on sharing either. It was probably a mouse or something. The little bugger ran riot round the field with his new "thing" too and wasn't going to drop it in a hurry. I wonder if the bunny he got a while back is where he got the mange from? I dunno, but it's worried me!

I know, he is a spaniel and that's what they are breed for but....I don't like the idea of it!

    Yuk!

  • 102 minutes that changed America

It's Friday night/Saturday morning and there has been total rubbish on the telly as per normal. I have caught up with all my SKY+ recordings and was totally impressed with a programme I saw by chance. It was called "102 minutes that changed America" and shown on the History channel. It showed footage that has not been seen before. Little video clips that members of the public had sent it.

Goodness, it was amazing. Not one word of commentry, just the public and public services talking and it all being caught on film. It was on for 102 minutes and it told everything as it happened. The planes crashing, the people throwing themselves out the window, the rescue people going in, everything.

It was a real jaw dropping and compulsive thing to watch. Here is the producer talking about the programme.

  • Who's left then?

    Oooops :??:

Someone seems to have left the fold....I'm a member down!

Must have bored them rigid :))

  • The Easter Friday Five

    The Easter Friday Five!

    1. How many Easter Eggs have you got already?
    None! :(

    2. Will you go to church over the Easter period?
    I doubt it.

    3. When you think of Easter what is your first thought?
Easter bunnies, chocolate, warm weather, new clothes

    4. What is your favourite chocolate? White, milk, dark?
Any kind of chocolate will satisfy me :))

    5. Did you give anything up for Lent??
    Nope!

Copy the questions above into your blog, answer them, leave a comment here to let everyone know you've done them.

If you'd like to suggest five questions then send me a private message or email!

  • Back to normal??

So, lets get back to some normality here says I with a smile!

The Easter weekend is here and so far I do not yet have one Easter egg :( Now, I do hope that someone remembers my liking of the chocolate stuff and brings me one home at some point this weekend.

I've not been sleeping lately and do like to listen the radio while laying there. Hubby goes mad, rightly so I suppose. I mean, why would he want to listen to the radio too. So I have treated myself to a pillow speaker. What a great idea!!! You get this flat speaker and slip it under your pillow and you can listen without disturbing anyone else. Even better is that it works, hubby couldn't hear the radio!

So, back to normal, whatever that may be :)

  • The school holidays

The school holidays are here! Did I expect my son to be out all the time with his friends? Yes I did :) Is he? No he isn't...they are all here instead

    Why!!!!

One of them is playing her music and if I hear one of those songs one more time I shall scream. I have just been shopping and they think it's Christmas and have dived in head first. Then there are the toilet rolls that have been used already this week. What do they do with them????

I shall be glad to get back to school for rest I think!

  • The Vets again

In all the panic yesterday we forgot to pick up some stuff for the dogs eyes. On top of everything else he has quite bad conjunctivitus too. Bless him, he looks like he has gone 10 rounds with Tyson. So I called the vet and Martin wasn't there but I ended up speaking to the other vet. Yes, him! :-/

So I asked him about the conjunctivitus and he said we could just pop in and collect some stuff. Then he had the cheek to say about the Advocet or whatever it was flee stuff that we used last night (this is part of the treatment). He said oh I used that the last time you were here didn't I and we need to do it every month now. Well, I hit the roof and told him in no uncertain terms that he told us how many times that it definately was not mange and that he had not used anything of the sort.

I have to go up there soon to collect the stuff....I may just bash him while I'm there >:XX

  • Don't we love our pets!

Seems like every cream bum in the world has exploded in my world! Talk about it never rains but it pours

The dog has been so poorly that I lost me temper today with the vet and went along to see him and give him a bit of my mind. We have waited for just over 3 weeks for him to make a referal to the Royal Vet college as he wasn't sure what was wrong with the dog. We visited him 3 times and 3 times were given antibiotics, steroids and creams. Instead of getting better the dog has got worse and I have been in tears over it all. The poor dog is so worn out from scratching 24/7 and just looks terrible with all bits of fur missing etc. So tonight, off I went to kick some @rse! It was a different vet, a lovely guy. He immediately said he wanted to do a test to see if he had mange. The other vet had said to us 3 times that it definately was not mange but didn't do this simple skin scrape to see. Within 10 minutes the vet confirmed that yes it was indeed mange. I was fuming but relieved in the same breath.

We had been convinced it was something really awful wrong. So the this was something that the first vet could have sorted out in an instant. I just want to go and shout at him. Anyway, we now have the proper treatment for this and we hope that within 2 days or so the dog will start feeling better.

I can't start to tell you how much has been lifted off my shoulders. The dog is just part of the family and we love him soooo much!

Anyway, that's just part of Missy's tale but I just needed to say "hello" and then "goodbye" and to say that I will be back tomorrow to catch up with you all!

    Hugs to you all xx

  • How far back does your memory go?

I was just wondering how far back I could remember. Actually not that far back at all these days seeing as how I'm getting old :))

I remember being about 8 or 9ish and going to the library. I only lived a few doors down so was allowed to go on my own. I had chosen my books and was waiting for the lady to come and stamp my books before going home. She took forever to come over. I was by now starting to get desperate to go to the little girls room. She finally come along and as she was stamping my books I remember my legs starting to feel rather warm.... My shoes also felt "full" and wet. OMG!!! I was mortified and ran home sooooooo ashamed of myself!

    :oops::-/

  • The Friday Five 3/4/09

    1. How many candles do you have burning at any given time??
    Probably about 5 :)

    2. Do you love to get given Easter eggs??
I love to get Easter Eggs and try to eat them before anyone else in this house gets there first!

    3. Wine or vodka??
Neither to be honest but will drink them in moderation...just to be polite of course :)

    4. Do you say dinner, tea or supper when talking about your evening meal?
    Tea for me :)

    5. What is your favourite sandwich??
Ciabata, butter, brie, baby spinach, mayo and sliced grapes.
    Sheer bliss!

  • Parp....

I have just been inspired to write this after reading about another bloggers amusement regarding farting. Sad to say I know but it has always given me the giggles and just amuses me. Now this may sound like I am being rude or that but I'm not, it just makes me laugh. Possibly it all started when I was very young. Grandad always said to us grandchildren "come and press the button" and we would all rush over to the button. The button was the button on the rear pocket of his trousers. We had to push the button just as farted...always gave us the giggles. Sad? Yep probably! :))

I just have so many stories around this area.....

  • Salt and pepper??

I am so sad sometimes, and if there isn't anything on the telly I can always entertain myself by flicking through all the SKY chanels.

Tonight I landed on one of those QVC type chanels, you know the ones that sell everything you would never buy in a gazillion years. Tonights offering was....salt and pepper mills with lights! Why!?!?!

I don't know about you but when I eat there is always a light or candle on. Meaning that I can see the way to getting the salt and/or pepper on the plate. I rarely miss :)) Why on earth would anyone want a light guided salt/pepper mill?? Would it really make life so much more better by having a light?

So, I won't be rushing out to but these mills despite it being buy one, get one free!

  • Hurrah!

    What a mad few days!

Our new venture has been a victim of it's own success....there was so much interest that the website crashed and now we need to buy a bigger bandwidth!

    ;)

  • Silly me!

What a day....it's been bonkers to say the least!

I went to Tesco this afternoon as the cupboard was bare and the dog was eating the chair legs. I did my shop and went to pay. All the shopping was packed and loaded into my trolley. I was exhausted and just wanted to get some petrol and go home. I put my card in the machine and tapped in my PIN number. Nope, it wasn't playing. So I did it again...no, still not working. Thank heavens I had another card with me.

So me being me decided to go and get some cash before filling the dog mobile up and the silly card not working there. Ooooh dear, nope, not letting me have any pennies. I drove home on fumes and none too happy either. I knew everything was OK with the bank as I had only just spoken with them before I went shopping. I know they would have told me off there and then if the money had all dried up :))

I marched in, phoned the bank and explained the situation. The nice lady asked what the expiry date on my card was....and then it dawned on me! Yes, silly me had cut up the new card I recieved a while ago and kept the old card that ran out yesterday!

I hope the new card hurries up and gets here :))

  • Dearest reader....

    Dearest friends

I am soooo sorry for not being about these 'ere parts in my normal capacity for the last day or 2. Remember I told you about the Ball thingy and a mutiny happening and all?? Well, tomorrow is the day that it all takes off and there is a great big launch and there will be lots of fuss. I am so excited I can't tell you.

It has taken 12 of us so much time, energy, effort and even money to get this up and running but we are all dedicated to raising money for others. Just watch out for my halo as it slides over my hips (if only!) and crashes to the floor!

Please forgive me for not commenting much but I am having a quick whizz through. I have to keep tabs on you all don't I!??!!

I still luvs ya all though!

    Forgiven??
