Everyones kindness

Yesterday at school saw an assembly for the Harvest Festival take place. The children and staff were asked to bring in contributions in the form of tinned food or a few coins. The collected food was going towards a local homeless action group and the money towards helping a village in Africa buy medical items.

It was so nice to see photos of the African village and the school and "hospital". The assembly raised a fair amount and it will be sent off as soon as possible so that the villagers may get some much needed items.

I was really touched by everyone's kindness!

It's good cause i think the kids like to rally round, ive actually approched Jades school on account of a charity called "Mary's Meals" don't know if u have heard of it but I actually VOLINTEERD to fundraise for it if they wanted to contribute to the charity and i am not big at puting my services forward as in the school, something about this charity just touched me! xx

Seems the kids actually pick what charity's they give money too! xx

  I have never heard of that charity. Is it a local one?? At my school we have lots of special assemblies during the year. So far this term we have had someone from Great Ormond Street hospital come in and we collected for them. We have lots of fund raising going on and Christmas we are doing for the first time the shoe box appeal. Everyone who wants to contribute fills a shoe box with things like tennis balls, pencils, rubbers, you know the kind of thing. They then get sent off. I can't remember where we will be sending ours this year though *blush*

    Yeah Jades school has done the shoe box thing, they are asking us to fill bags with old clothes, shoes ect for the end of Nov and the school makes money through the weight. xx

      That charity is quite big now, it was started by two guys, i think they were brothers somewhere in Scotland Duncan Balantine gave them a big load of money to build a school or nursery in Africa. xx

      We recently did the old clothes thing and so far we are the best school to have donated. Our clothes all weighed more than any other school had donated! The school made a bit out of it too!

That's brilliant! When I volunteered at the homeless shelter..thay had just had a big delivery of tinned and dried products donated via 'Harvest Festival's'... It's so nice to see so many people give to those less fortunate than them selves!
