Oh I am so sad (and cross) today!
The dog that my son found last week is still not home with his owner and I am so sad. The lady posted in the paper about her dog going missing and how she missed her!

Sooooo I am about to have a rant....

Seems that the Mayor of London as was, yes that's right Ken Livingstone decided to take all control of lost and found dogs away from the police in April this year. In theory this should be ok but....yes, and it's a great big but, the local councils who were to take over control of such things do not have anything set up to manage the situation. So they contract this out to someone else. With me so far?

Where is the first place you go if you loose a dog? The police station or local RSPCA or rescue home. Wrong! Police have nothing to do with it, the RSPCA won't take stray/lost dogs in and as you may have read previously here (if I wrote about it of course that is, I may have omitted that part!) the contractors took over 24 hours to collect the found dog from us. Well, in fact, they didn't even collect the dog from us...we had to drive all over the place to the RSPCA to get the dog scanned for a microchip (she didn't have one!) and as they won't take dogs in we then had to drive to another part of town to the contractors pound! Lost yet?!?!

So who does this problem belong to I wonder? The Mayor? The local councils? Who? Seems this is something else that no one wants to deal with. So when there are millions of unwanted dogs wandering round everywhere in London no one will know what to do with them!

Yet another bright idea of Kens >:XX

I am off on a crusade now I think.....

EDIT:
I tracked the owner down and she still does not have the dog back with her. I am mad about it all now. She was delighted to hear that the dog ate lots of chicken and slept on our bed while she was with us. I gave the lady a big hug and cried as I felt so frustrated for her. Anyway, a very kind neighbour is taking her to the pound and will try to sort it all out. If not, they have my phone number and I will shout and scream until she does get this dog back. It's so not fair!
