Over the years I have set too and researched my family tree. Isn't it so interesting to do?! Honestly it is totally amazing what you get to find out. I knew there were some skeletons somewhere many, many years back. Mum always said that there was "something about my nan" and her mum...dads mum and her family. No one ever knew just what but suspected that her mum, who was a servant back in the 1800's got very friendly with the Man of the house if you get what I mean!
Today, I have got to the bottom of it and I am delighted. I have discovered exactly where this big house was that she worked in and just who the man was that got her into that condition! I know in those days it was common for this to happen but all the same, I didn't like what else I discovered. They were all thrown out and ended up in a workhouse. My nan would have been about 2 years old. How sad!! No wonder she had such strong views on things. She must have had a really bad start to life. I doubt even dad new all this. If he did he never shared it with us. It's funny what people hide away from those they love isn't it?
Still, I have just emailed all my findings onto the rest of the family. The last time we all met up there was great interest in finding out more. I hope this is what we wanted to see!
