Despite living a good 25 miles from Heathrow we are sometimes directly under the flight path depending on if there is an R in the month or the wind is blowing in a northernly direction. It's not really a problem as the aircraft noise is certainly no where near as bad as anyone living nearer to the airport and under the flight path.
But....and this is a big but, why do I get constant interuptions on my radio from Captain Biggles as he flies his 747 overhead?! Honestly it is driving me nuts. The kichen radio drove me mad more than any other in the house. I suppose as I listen to that more than anywhere else. In the end I had to buy a DAB radio and the problem was solved instantly.
After 6 weeks of not having the clock radio alarm on in the bedroom I've not really noticed the problem of bleedover over this time. However, yesterday and today I have decided to set the alarm for my normal getting up time to try and get my body clock used to getting up again (no, it's not working as I just sleep through it!). What do I get instead of Steve Allen on LBC?? "This is speedbird 007 requesting instructions for landing. We are on a heading of blah, blah, blah at a speed of 10 zillion knots per hour"
This brings out the worse in me after the alarm has gone off and all I want to do is listen to the news before I get up. Biggles always manages to interupt just when the newsreader is about to tell me the headlines and so I miss it or what the weather is going to be like!
So, guess who will have to go shopping for a new DAB clock radio thingy?? Yep me....but as I say, I do like a gadget so it won't be too much of a problem for me!
*eek*
That's odd for the air traffic noise to bleed into your radio! Dang!
