I do love a rummage in the local charity shops. I have had some great bargains in the form of books and the such. Recently the British Heart Foundation have got in some lovely hearts made from onyx and quart in some lovely colours. £1 or £2 each depending on size. I love them as I collect hearts. While I was out shopping today I went into the BHF and spotted just the book. I have eyed this book up for some time now but didn't want to part with £15 or so. Today there it was, in excellent condition for £3. I dived on it and hugged it all the way to the cashier. It is a book all about breadmakers and the recipes for them. It even had a whole section about leaven...Mira, did you see that? Leaven!! I am going to have a good old read and see what it says!

I'm usually the scruffy one hunting through the size M tops for long-sleeved Ts!
Bridport has a bout 6 so that's my treat for finishing the shopping early - seeing if I can find a bedtime book and some unusual clothes so I don't look like everyone else* (or spend as much as they do!).
* Though have you noticed that lady newsreaders seem to buy their dahling little jackets from charity shops - the rail with all the odd coloured things with asymmetric fronts, big Kirsty Allsop buttons, odd weaves and strange fringed hems? Tee hee - I expect they really spend £100s in exclusive little shops that us mere mortals wot not of.-

I think you are right about the newsreaders! Have you noticed how some charity shops seem to overprice some of their stuff? I was horrified to see a childs Regatta waterproof jacket on sale for £15 and it was very well worn too!

I'm the annoying bugger who roots through all the books to get to the graphic novels. I also hunt out weird CDs that I can't find anywhere else. Love charity shops, and we donate as well as buy - it's nice to give something back.

I used to work 2 afternoons a week in a charity shop and was stunned at some of the stuff that used to get donated....

Charity shops are about all that keeps Stoke town going! Get a lot of books from them - including a humugous copy of Invertebrate Zoology for 50p!
Also a good place to find old cameras for a) collection and b) an idea I've got for a photo. Problem with b) is I can't find the right style.
Maybe a car boot is in order.... -

Oh now boot sales are quite another matter.....

It's the best book hunting ground for sure. My only problem is convinving his Nibs that once he's read them they should go back.

I can't bring myself to donate the books back again either! I have to keep them just incase I need to refer back to the book at some future time. Sad excuse I know!

Our house is creaking under the weight of ours. I'm a 'read it, give it away' kind of girl though. Which is just as well or there'd be no floorspace left.

I love charity shops - but not with my mum in tow. Now she is an addict. Very embarrassing listening to her over-loud assessments of the rival merits of charity shops, particularly the 'one that smells of pee'! (It has since closed, which she says is nothing whatsover to do with her).

I love going round the charity shops for my books. I have three shops round the corner from me and then there are loads where I go shopping. I get on my boyfriend's nerves by dragging him around them all.
